Hartford Avoids Sweep

Binghamton used a five-run seventh inning to come close to beating Hartford, but Hartford held on to beat Binghamton 7-5 on Sunday. Hartford’s Caitlin Eichler took a shutout into the seventh inning before Binghamton tacked on five runs. Despite allowing three runs, reliever Brie Hout was able to pick up the save. Eichler improved her record to 4-4 while allowing four earned runs on seven hits and striking out two and walking four over six innings. Junior Nikki Thompson hit her third home run of the season, a two run shot off the scoreboard. Hartford is now 10-13 overall and 5-6 in conference action. Hartford takes on Fairfield at home on Wednesday at 3pm.
