Men’s Baksetball Drops Season Opener to Georgetown

In their 2006-07 season opener, the men’s basketball team battled, but dropped a 69-59 match against eighth ranked Georgetown on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks fought hard and hung in the game as they got to within four points with less than four minutes left in the game. Poor free-throw shooting and turnovers hurt Hartford down the stretch in their attempt to tie the game. Coming out of the half, Hartford got as close to one point down when freshman Joe Zeglinski nailed a three-pointer. The Hawks the took a one point lead with 14 minutes left to play, but Georgetown pulled ahead soon after. Hartford would not quit as they again made the score close late in the game, but the Hoyas were able to take the lead for good as they went on to win by 10 points. Zeglinski and Alex Zimnickas both led the Hawks with 14 points and Bo Taylor added 12 points in the loss. Hartford travels to Maryland on Monday to play Towson in their second game of the year.
