Hawks Win Against Bearcats Extends Home Win Streak to 17

The University of Hartford’s women’s basketball team advances to first place in the American East with a record of 14-4 overall and 4-1 in the American East with a win over the Bighamton Bearcats. Nestle Purina ONE’s America East Player of the Game, Erica Beverly, led the Hawks with 16 points and 11 rebounds in her third double double in the last five games. She was followed by Danielle Hood, Katie Kelley, and Diana Delva who also finished with double figures with 13 and 12 respectively. After struggling in the first 20 minutes of the game, Hartford went on to finish the game shooting 44 percent from the field which was led by Beverly and Delva who combined to shoot 11-of-14 and 6-of-6 from the free throw line. MaryLynne Schaefer and Lisa Etienne finished with six and five rebounds respectively while Etienne had a season high eight assists. The Hawks will finish a two-game home stand with the Albany Great Danes on Saturday at the Chase Arena. The game starts at 2:00 pm.
