Alternative Winter Break Rescheduled

The Alternative Winter Break to Biloxi, Mississippi during January has been rescheduled, and will now take place during Spring Break. The trip is still 8 days, but is now between March 22nd and March 30th, 2013.

Students will help volunteer with clean-up efforts down in Biloxi, after the area was hit hard during this past summer by Hurricane Isaac, as well as Gulf Coast ecosystem restoration.

This trip initially costs up to $700 per student, but the Center for Community Service hopes that group fundraising efforts will help lower that cost significantly, to an estimated $200. Students should be aware, however, that once they have paid for the trip, the fee is non-refundable, and students will not be able to receive their money back if they cannot attend for some reason.

For more information about this trip, or to apply for the Alternative Spring Break, students can apply online at www.hartford.edu/ccs, or visit the Center for Community Service in Gengras Student Union, room 209. The application deadline is now Tuesday, October 30th, by 2:30 p.m.

Students who do apply should also be aware that their application will be used to determine whether they will be selected for an interview for the ASB. These interviews will be held on Friday, November 2nd, 2012.
