Incoming first-year student passes away

Melissa Marchese, an incoming first-year student, has passed away

President Woodward sent an email to the campus community on Monday June 17, 2019 sharing the tragic news that Melissa Marchese, an incoming freshman, has passed away after being involved in a motor vehicle accident in her hometown of Shoreham, New York.

Melissa was very excited to attend the University of Hartford in the fall with a major of Early Childhood Education in the College of Education, Nursing, and Health Professions. She has been recognized for her outstanding academic achievements and was committed to joining the Hartford Athletics as a member of the softball team. Woodward states in his email to the students that Melissa’s family and friends remember her as brilliant, funny, and kind. Our thoughts and prayers are with Melissa’s family.
