Hartford Splits Weekend Doubleheader Against Albany

The Hawk's opened their first conference action of the season spliting the weekend doubleheader against Albany. The Hawk's split the first series on Saturday with a 10-9 win over the Great Danes, then lost the second game 9-0. The Hawks were led by Bryan Propst and Brady Stouffer. Propst finished with three hits off five at bats with a pair of RBI's. Stouffer went 2-5 adding two RBI's. Reliever Weston Szymanski picked up his first win of the season. Hawk's starter Pete Moraski lasted four and one-third innings in the first game giving up seven runs off nine hits and striking out two. Albany would blank Hartford in the second game, not allowing a single run. The Hawks split the Sunday series against Albany, losing the first game 5-2, then took the second game 7-4. The Hawks were led by Ryan Crowley in the first game. Crowley added a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth. Crowley finished the game going 2-2 with an RBI and a run scored. The Hawks battled an early 4-0 deficit in the second game of the doubleheader. Weston Szymanski pitched seven innings of long relief for starter John Coury, allowing four hits while striking out six batters, earning his second win of the season. The Hawks are now 2-2 in conference play, and 4-20 overall. Albany is also 2-2 in the conference and is 8-16 overall. The Hawks travel to Worcester, Mass. for a game against Holy Cross on Wednesday at 3pm.
