Midnight Mania 2013 will occur on Friday, Oct. 25 from 9 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. and all students are encouraged to attend
At midnight, the college basketball season will begin and during the event, the men's and women's basketball teams will be announced.
The event will take place at the Chase Family Arena, located in the University's Sports Center, and is free for all students to attend.
According to SGA’s Student Affairs Vice President Amber Gipson, "Our motto at the University is 'Committed to Community,' so it’s only appropriate that we come out, we not only support our basketball teams and the groups performing there, but we have a collaborative event to kick off the basket ball season."
Included in the event will be giveaways and performances by Hartford's dance teams, cheerleaders, a capella groups and pep band.
In addition to the free giveaways, the annual banner competition will be taking place. This year’s theme is 'Red Hot Hawks,' and any organization can enter for a chance to win $500.
Pictures of the banner must be sent to Gipson, at firstname.lastname@example.org no later than midnight on Oct. 25.
"They will all be uploaded to the athletics Facebook page, and the amount of polls or like they get by midnight that night , the one that gets the most votes is the one that wins," says Gipson.
Students can swipe their ID upon entry to the gym, and one lucky winner will be awarded the grand prize of a new television.Back to Main Page
