Super Bowl 49 was a great match up between two powerhouse teams, the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks. The first quarter started off a little dry on the offensive side as Tom Brady threw an early pick to Jeremy Lane which turned the whole momentum of the game, but only for a little bit. The Hawks had a quick three and out, which gave the ball back to Brady. He threw a nice pass to Brandon Lafell to put the Pats up 7-0-. Seattle quickly answered to even up the score at 7-7. The Pats, and the Seahawks both scored on their next possessions to even the score at 14 at the half.
This game however looked dark late for the Bellichick squad, as they went down a 10 points heading into the fourth quarter. But in typical Brady fashion he led his team down on a great drive to put his team within three 21-24 with twelve minutes to go. For the Seahawks, they had a tough time on offense in the final quarter as they went on a quick three and out to give the pigskin back to the Brady bunch. At the six minute mark the Pats offense quickly went to work, and right at the two minute mark Tommy Boy connected with Julian Edelman who had a career game with the late touchdown to go up 28-24. Could Russell Wilson rally his team to victory? Seattle was driving down field as Wilson threw deep, as Jermaine Kearse fumbled with the ball and finally recovered it on the five yard line to catch, considered one of the greatest balls in Super Bowl history. Everything was looking great for the Hawks and the Twelfth Man as they had a great chance to put the game away. But on second and goal, Coach Pete Carroll called a pass play that would prove crucial, as Wilson threw a laser pass to Lockette that was jumped and picked off by Malcolm Butler, to seal the win for the Patriots as they go on to win Super Bowl 49 and claim their 4th title in franchise history.
