     Regents Doorknobs - Due to vandalism last semester, maintenance was needed to repair the doors, almost daily, so facilities and Res Life made the decision to remove all doorknobs and electronic locks from all but two entrances in each building. But now it seems the problem has gotten worse.

     DWI- 2 News Special Report - Every estimated 32 minutes an alcohol related crash occurs. This according to the national highway safety administration is the cause of one third of all deaths involving teenagers over 15.
     Alcohol poisoning - Alcohol poisoning can be a major issue for students who consumed more than one alcoholic beverage an hour. Alcohol poisoning is not just having too much to drink, it is considered a medical emergency and it’s very important to go to the hospital right away if you think you have symptoms.

     New England Air Museum - Located about 20 minutes away from the university, on the other side of Bradley International Airport is the New England Air Museum. Michael Speciale is the executive director of the museum and is also a graduate of the Barney school of business.
     Pond Clean Up - Fraternity Alpha Sigma Phi is cleaning up the pond outside of Konover. They are creating a memorial dedicated to a brother they lost in a car accident last summer.
     Graduation Rehersal - Graduation rehearsal for the Class of 2006 is May 19th at 2:00pm. It will take place on the main law outside of Gengras.
     Tuition Increases Five Percent - Tuition for the 2006-2007 school year is set to rise by 5%. The University decides tuition by looking at the school's needs, including the rising costs of energy and faculty's salaries.

     The Dangers of Mixing Drinks - Mixing alcohol and energy drinks is becoming a common occurrence among college students today however, this behavior can oftentimes lead to dangerous health conditions.
     New Architecture Department Chairman - James Lawler, former president of the American Institute of Architects, had been named the interim chair of the university’s Department of Architecture.

     Sexual Assault: How to Stay Safe - Sexual assault is a problem on campuses throughout the country. It is defined as any unwelcome sexual contact or forced intercourse. This week STN investigated how you can stay safe on campus.
     Fangs - The Science Center of Connecticut is located at 950 Trout Brook Drive in West Hartford. Through June 18, 2006 the center will be hosting Fangs, an exhibit of rare snakes.
     Windows Vista - Many computers are now overwhelmed with saved information and people may have trouble finding certain files. The new version of windows, titled Vista, promises to simplify that process and much more.
     Bacteria on Campus - This week STN tested high traffic areas to see just how much bacteria is on campus. We live in a world dominated by microorganisms. Also called microbes, the majority of these organisms are good, while others do cause harm.

     New Alcohol Regulations On Campus - Starting February 13, students will face a new method of enforcing alcohol policy on campus.
     Bacteria Menengitis On Campus - A male junior is still in the process of recovering tonight from a case of bacterial meningitis.
     New Car Smell - If you’ve been in the market for a new car- you might want to pay attention. A Michigan environmental group is accusing car manufacturers of using toxic chemicals during production. They say these chemicals are in the so-called new car smell.
     Safe Sex - Kiss week starts Monday the 13th. This is a great opportunity for students to learn more about practicing safe sex.
     Protecting Yourself From STI’s - STN looked into sexually transmitted infections on college campuses. It is extremely important to practice safe protected sex. The best way to prevent STI’s is to practice abstinence, but if you do have sex, the wellness center recommends using a condom every time you have sex. The university provides free condoms for students at the wellness center, health services, and the women’s center.

     Computer Viruses - A virus is a computer program that is designed to copy itself into programs stored on another computer. Viruses have negative effects on computers such as corrupting memory or causing your computer to operate incorrectly.

     Beyond the Storm - Beyond the Storm, a benefit concert was held to help the victims affected by the years devastating hurricanes. Sponsors included many university organizations including office of communication, SGA, and KAT.
     What is Fear? - People experience a lot of scary things during Halloween, but what exactly is fear? What causes it? According to Steven Fagbemi, a psychology professor at UHA, “Fear is an emotion we experience whenever we perceive danger. Usually when we’ve had an association with a past negative experience, fear may result.”
     Halloween Recipes - Halloween is the perfect time to create special deserts for your friends. After you carve your pumpkins you can bake the seeds for a healthy and tasty snack.

     Sleep Deprivation - Sleep deprivation is a problem plaguing college students everywhere. With students committed to more activities and academics these days, sleep is often overlooked.
     Cirque Du Soleil Varekai - Cirque Du Soleil Varekai is in Hartford until Sunday October Sixteenth.
     New Cell Phone Law in CT - A new law was passed on October first that made talking on handheld cell phones while driving illegal in the state of Connecticut. According to Sergeant Vance with the Ct state police the law was enacted to make the roads safer and drivers more alert.
     CT Civil Unions - Connecticut made history on October first when it legalized civil unions. Connecticut is the third state to legalize civil unions, joining Massachusetts and Vermont. Couples from all over the state gathered at Hartford City Hall to be legally joined. Couple expressed how happy they were now that they could recognize their relationships.

Identity theft is the theft of information about a person so they can use your social security number and other information to get into your bank account. The main motives of identity theft victims are financial reasons.
     Illegal File Sharing on the Rise on College Campuses - Over 60 percent of American homes have broadband internet access, and this has done nothing but made illegal file sharing easier than ever before. Downloading free music and programs may be easy and convenient but students may not know that if they get caught they have to face major consequences.

     Greek Life Audit - The university has ordered an audit of all Greek life on campus. This move has been in its planning stages during the summer months and came into full effect when school began.
     TV Studio Dedication - The Harry Jack Gray TV studio was formally dedicated in a ceremony on Sept. 15.
     The Power Outage - This past weekend lighting struck a transformer in Bloomsfield, leaving Regents Park, Park River, and The Village with out power. Some of Hartford’s surrounding towns also loss power.
     ID Number Change - This year the University of Hartford will not be using student’s social security numbers as their identification numbers.
