This semester, they plan to make a big difference on a smaller scale right on campus at the University of Hartford. With other organizations like W.A.R.S. and the Commuters’ Association, Greek Life is having a Breast Cancer Awareness Walk.

Vice President of Philanthropy on the Inter-fraternal Council Executives Board, Alfred Parker, spoke about how the planning for the event encouraged organizations on campus to come together and stride beyond campus to reach out to sponsors for donations and a presence on t-shirts being sold.

More than 250 t-shirts for the walk were sold Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week, costing $10 each, and all of the proceeds are going to the American Cancer Society.

The organizations plan to learn from the first annual walk and hope to improve the event in the coming years.

The walk is open to the public, and those walking are encouraged to come by 10:45 AM. The walk will begin at 11 AM on the GSU Lawn.

The rain date is the following Sunday, November 6th.
