Pop Culture: Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No its the 2016 Super Moon
On November 14th 2016 you can observe the biggest supermoon that has ever happened in history right outside your window. A supermoon is the coincidence of a full moon or a New moon with the closest approach the Moon makes to the Earth on its elliptical orbit, resulting in the largest apparent size of the lunar disk as seen from Earth.
The super moon will come tonight for the first time in 48 years. If you miss it you'll have to wait till 2034!!! Tonight's moon will be 14% bigger and 30% brighter than the usual moon. Our location in Hartford, CT may be a little difficult to get the best view of the moon due to light pollution from the city; but if you are determined to check out this historic site be sure to get out to a town with an large open field.
The supermoon will be the largest around 8:45pm. So get out there and take in the beautiful view.
