Hawks vs Binghamton

A trip to New York brought heartbreak to the Hawks on Wednesday night. The Hawks fell to Binghamton 2-1 in double OT.
After facing a 1-0 deficit at the half Patrick Boucher evened the score at 1-1 in the 71st minute. That goal would go on to force extra time in the game. At the close of the first OT the score was still even at 1. But a complete Hawks comeback was ended by Bearcats senior Scott Zobre after 1:35 of the second OT period. The win improved Binghamton to a record of 4-4-3 with a 2-0-1 America East record. With the loss Hartford fell to a disappointing 3-7-0 record and just 1-2-0 in the conference.
Following the loss Hawks coach Dan Gaspar said ““We had hard luck tonight against the Bearcats, but we will continue with the hard work.”
The Bearcats first got the lead due to Tommy Moon and Ryan Walter penetrating through the Hartford zone. Moon was able to maneuver around the defense and send a pass to Walter. After dribbling the ball a few yards Walter sent the ball into the lower right corner of the net for the goal.
Hartford tied the game due to Boucher and a newcomer Liam Williams. Williams successfully passed the ball into the middle where Boucher was able to head the ball into the net for the tying goal.
Ultimately the game was decided in the second OT when Walter was able to find Zobre near the Hartford net. The ball was headed by Walter to Zobre and Zober successfully found the back of the net for the win.
Following this loss the Hawks will return home for 2 games at Al Marzook field.
