With the temperature dropping, the roads will begin to get icy. STN spoke to AAA spokesman Jim Macpherson to find out some safety tips for winte driving.
All drivers need to slow down out on the roads during the winter. Ice is the most dangerous condition when driving. Ice gets more slippery when it is warm. Therefore ice can be a threat to drivers even when it is only in the mid 30s or low 40s.
AAA suggests keeping a traction agent in your car such as sand or salt. They also claim you should keep a warm blanket in the car along with a flash light with new batteries, water and snacks. You might also want to keep flares or reflectors in your car in case you break down. This will lalert other drivers of your situation.
