A mere twenty-two minutes from campus, Brown’s Harvest is the perfect weekend getaway this October. Currently celebrating their thirtieth harvest, Brown’s provides all the classic Halloween fun of picking out your own pumpkin!
They are open weekdays, but if you choose to venture out on a weekend, you’ll get the added bonus of a spooky hayride to the pumpkin patch. The hayride last approximately a half an hour and circles the entire farm before heading into the woods. There lurk witches and the occasional wizard or werewolf. After exiting the forest, the ride continues through the haunted barn where scores of terrors await you! After the barn, the ride ends at the long awaited pumpkin patch where you can choose your very own pumpkin to take home with you.
Hayrides not your thing? Brown’s Harvest has an incredibly varied stock available right up front for your picking pleasure. And make sure to check out their homemade apple cider donuts and cider before you leave. You’ll have worked up the appetite for them, trust us!
All in all, Brown’s Harvest is a gem of Windsor, CT and a great place for college kids to escape to this month.
