This year has seen more hurricanes that in past years. This year we have seen 26 tropical storms and thirteen hurricanes. This beats the previous record of 21 tropical storms in 1933.
Global Warming is one possible reason for the active hurricane cycle. When the atmosphere warms up, so does our ocean. Warm water is what the hurricanes feed off of. With so many hurricanes this year it could affect our winter weather. In 1995 there were many tropical storms and the flowing winter received 115 inches of snow, much more snow than average.
