James Lawler, former president of the American Institute of Architects, had been named the interim chair of the university’s Department of Architecture. He was named chair to help the masters of architecture program get their accreditation. Lawler served on 27 national architecture accreditation board teams in the past. Some of his plans include working with students and faculty to make sure their work meets the standards needed for the accreditation and requiring students to carry a sketch book.
