The women’s soccer team took home the 2006 America East Championship on Saturday, after defeating the Maine Blackbears on Saturday, 1-0. The goal came late in the second half by Meagan Riemer, who was also named the conference’s Most Outstanding Player. Goalkeeper of the Year Liz Cook did not see a goal come her way until 10 minutes left in the game, but was able to record the lone save. The win gives the Hawks their first championship since 2002, and seventh overall. The win gives the Hawks a spot in the 64-team NCAA tournament. Their opponent will be announced on Monday on ESPNEWS between 3-4pm.
