The women’s basketball team bounced back from 83-51 loss to Purdue last week to beat St. Joseph’s 62-52. Hartford is now 2-1 overall on the season as they play the next three games on the road before they play their home-opener against Seton Hall on Wednesday, November 29th at 7 p.m.
Hartford was led by Danielle Hood and Ikea Witt who had game highs of 15 points while Katie Kelley added 13 points of her own in the win. All but one Hartford player had at least one point in the win against St. Joseph’s.
Hartford went on a 12-2 run to close out the first half as they took a 35-20 lead into the break, but St. Joseph’s started the second half strong and cut the lead to single digits. With under four minutes left to play, Hartford scored six straight points and their lead would hold up as the Hawks shot 45% from the floor in the game compared to just 32% for St. Joseph’s.
