Outside of most a capella circles, the ICCA’s are not well known. The International Competition of Collegiate A Capella is an annual event that brings a capella groups from around the world together to compete for top honors. The competition takes place from January through April in six different regions and the university’s own L’shir will be competing.
L’Shirs Business Manager Jessica Ruggles says, “we’re participating in the northeast competition first and our quarterfinals are in Hartford this Saturday so if we place first or second we will move on to the semifinal round”
Hopefully we’ll make it, we have a really good director this year and all of our alumni are really excited about it”
L’Shir’s quarterfinal performance will take place on Saturday at the Immanuel congregational church in Hartford at 7:30. Teams competing against them include a capella groups from UConn, NYU, Fordham and Connecticut College. If they move on, their semifinal round will take on March 20th at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
