Coming all the way from Green Bay, Wisconsin, new men’s head soccer coach Tom Poitras is here to lead the Hawks to victory. Coach Poitras says his main goal is getting Hartford to the NCAA tournament. Unfortunately getting there will be a tough challenge. However after tying Penn State on Sunday the boys have some hope. During an interview with STN Coach talked about how his experience is a major factor in turning this team around, “This is my 18th season as a college head coach, I spent four years at the University of New Haven here in Connecticut in Division two. And then from there I went to Southern New Hampshire University where we lost in the Division two national championship game. Finished second in the country there and then went from there to the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, and spent the last seven years out in Green Bay and was fortunate enough to win the Horizon League championship”. Its just a matter of getting this new core of players to gel together and that can take some time. If the guys can just keep playing like they did against the Nittany Lions we may see an NCAA match after all.
