C-span filmed Professor Warren Goldstein’s first year seminar on November 15th. Professor Goldstein received an e-mail in late August from the C-Span producer with details about filming the class on Martin Luther Kind Jr. to be aired in a lecture series on American History TV. The class that was filmed discussed King’s Letter from Birmingham and its relation to the Civil Rights Movement. Professor Goldstein said the class was engaged and interesting and this would transfer through to the viewers at home. C-Span set up in the KM classroom in Mortenson Library with two cameras and four microphones that switched on and off to pick up students comments. One student raved about the experience saying that the class dynamic is special and a great experience, she described c-spans involvement in the lecture as a good opportunity. Another student said that she was a bit nervous at first with the lights, cameras and mics but became acclimated with the atmosphere and settled into a normal routine. The lecture will air December 3rd at 8:00 p.m. and midnight and again on December 4th at 1:00 p.m..
