The University will be removing the University Drive Bridge and Dam this summer and will only be replacing the bridge. This is because the bridge was installed to create a pond, which eventually silted in and looked more like an eyesore than an attraction.
The Bridge will be a single span bridge with a pedestrian walkway separated by a guardrail. The roadway will be five feet higher than it is now.
The current bridge will be closed the day after commencement, and the new bridge will open at the end of the fall semester. The school encourages use of the Mark Twain Entrance to campus in the interim.
Other summer campus changes will include new furniture in E&F Complex as well as fire code upgrades and energy upgrades that will make the school more environmentally friendly.
