We are in the midst of rush season and students may be wondering which organization to join, because each fraternity and sorority has a different set of values.
Tiffany Bialck of Greek Life says that “If you are torn between sororities you really can’t go wrong because our values are so similar. And there really is so much Greek unity.”
The social life of sororities and fraternities stretches far beyond the typical ideas of many students. They are greatly involved in numerous philanthropy events. Which is why the recruitment for each sorority and fraternity is different and highly selective.
Bialck explans that “The girls that we have in Greek life, we’re looking for leaders, we’re looking for girls that are involved.”
Greek life also encourages their members to keep up with their school work. They have study groups meet weekly to motivate fellow members to keep their grades up.
“School work comes first with us and then the great thing about sororities it’s another way to help you; important values, learn traditions,” says Bialck.
In addition to this, it is expected for the students to remain active outside of the organization, and not participate in the horrible tradition of hazing.
Upperclassman recruitment for sororities begins September 24th. If you’re interested in joining a sorority or fraternity please stop by the Greek Life office in Gengras Student Union.
