It was a great three days of golf at the Hartford Hawks Invitational at Bull’s Bridge Golf Club. The Hartford Hawks Men’s golf team, who was the host team of the tournament, won in dominating fashion as after the final round of play they had a 20 stroke lead over Boston College and Sacred Heart who both tied for second.
The individual winner of the tournament was Temple’s Brandon Mathews who won in a playoff against Peter Ballo of Sacred Heart and Dylan Newman of Iona College. Newman got his way into the playoff by shooting a course record 63 in the final round. Hartford’s Pat Ross who had the individual lead going into the final round ended up fourth shooting -1 for the tournament. Ross’ teammates Dan Yustin and Evan Russell finished fifth and sixth respectively. Russell had a hole-in-one in the second round. Rounding out the Hartford Men’s golf team, Sophomore Wally Gonzalez finished 13th while Freshman Will Betts shot a 239 total score.
