The University men’s tennis had their first win of the season with a 4-3 win on the
road at Siena Saturday afternoon. A milestone for head coach Torr Terranova, being his first college victory.
The Hartford men started with two out of three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. Freshmen Juan Molina-Naranjo and Morgan White took home a win at the No. 2 post, 8-4, as sophomore Muis Montes and freshman Harrison Max teamed up for a victory at No. 3, 8-1.
The Hawks went on to pick up points at Nos. 1, 2 and 5 singles to earn their first team win of the season. Senior Jordan Badenko guided the team with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Siena’s Ryan Schmitz at the top spot.
The No. 2 matchup, sophomore Nicholas Sharwarko took the first set from Peter Collins by a 7-6(8) count. In from Collins came back to win the second set, 6-1, to force a third set. For the final result, Sharwarko came out on top with a 7-5 victory to take the match and points home.
Freshman Morgan White then clinched the win for the Hawks in the No. 5 singles match, opposing Matt Funiciello, 6-1, 6-4.
