Her Campus has recently gained its newest chapter at the University of Hartford. Her Campus is a popular online lifestyle magazine aimed at female college students.
Founded in 2009 by three Harvard students, Her Campus has expanded quickly and has many chapters throughout the country, Hartford now among them.
“There are over 200 schools that have chapters, so it was only natural that Hartford would be next,” says Her Campus style editor, Miranda Schmalfuhs.
The magazine, run by students on campus, covers school events and takes part in fundraisers, including an upcoming cupcake sale for “She’s the First,” which helps young girls in third world countries pay for schooling.
It also features several sections unique to each campus, such as Campus Celebrity and Campus Cutie. Her Campus is closer to the campus than mainstream news networks.
“It’s more personal to the campus itself, where as regular news is like widespread,” says Schmalfuhs.
The University of Hartford chapter is in need of new writers. If you or anyone you know is interested in joining Her Campus, visit the website at hercampus.com/school/hercampus or contact the University chapter’s editor-in-chief, Rachel Cisto, at .
