Barnum

Barnum is a historical musical that teaches about differences between men and women and career balance.

Ralph Peters, the show’s director, says, “It’s about PT Barnum, it’s loosely based on his life, it’s kind of chronologically going into his life but condensed in a lot of ways. There’s also a strong story line between he and his wife. They’re at a tug of war between truth and lies and men and women. There are a lot of different themes that go into it. But, it’s wrapped around the element of the circus.”

On this action packed stage, much of Connecticut will be showcased and those in attendance will learn more about this “colorful” man, PT Barnum.

“PT Barnum and his wife, Charity, Tom Thumb, Charles and different people, they all were born here in Connecticut. in Bethel, also Barnum was the Mayor of Bridgeport and he was a part of the Connecticut legislature,” says Peters.

In this two act, 2 hour show, 32 Hartt students will look to amaze the crowd with vivid magic and incredible circus scenes during the showcase here in Lincoln Theatre.

Students can attend Barnum for free with a valid ID. Barnum will be showing in the Lincoln Theatre between Thursday, Oct. 24 and Sunday, Oct. 27. For show times and ticket information, you can visit the Lincoln Theatre box office.
