The school of Communication is teaming up with Career Services to offer a trial course to junior students to assist in prepping for life after graduation.
The class, taught by Assistant Professor of Communication Kristen Comeforo, and Assistant Director of Student Retention Programs with Career Services Michael Orsmby, will meet once a week for approximately fifty minutes, and cater to students of every communication emphasis.
“If your emphasis is journalism, we’ll talk specifically about jobs in that field. We’ll take about how to get prepared for those jobs and we’ll look at advertising, public relations, and human communications as well,” Dr. Comeforo said.
The class was created to assist with resume building, job searching, interview skills, and assistance with applying to graduate school. Ormsby encourages interested students to register as soon as possible due to its 20 student cap.
The Psychology department will also be partnering with Career Services to offer a similar style class to students in the major. If received well by students, these dialog courses have the potential to expand to other colleges and majors.
