On Saturday, March 7th at 7 p.m. in Lincoln Theater, Sigma Alpha Iota is hosting their annual Benefit for Life concert. The charity event is hosted every spring semester for a charity of the fraternity’s choice. This year, all proceeds will go to the Lung Cancer Research Foundation.
“Every year, we make a vote on a special cause that’s close to our hearts and we spend all year raising for that cause and we culminate our funding for that cause and have a big concert at the end of the spring semester,” Molly Rabuffo, senior chairman for Benefit for Life, said.
Multiple organizations at the University of Hartford will be performing this year, including the University Gospel Choir, the University A Cappella Coalition, and the the UHa Steppaz. Smaller acts from Sigma Alpha Iota and The Hartt School will also be performing, including vocal professor Shari Caluda, who was voted on by the university student body.
SAI is an all-female music fraternity, open to all majors as long as they have taken at least one music credit in the university. Those wanting to participate in Benefit for Life must contact SAI for details.
The event will consist of a silent auction at 6:30 p.m. and the actual concert at 7 p.m.. Those who attend are asked to give a $5 suggested donation.
