Each first year student who is interested in this program will be paired up with an upper classman mentor to help guide them through the academic process, social life, stuff from roommate issues and then curricular activities on campus.
This will make the students feel like they belong.
The main focus for this program is the undecided A&S students. They are the highest rate of transfers so they pair them with students not in the College of Arts and Sciences so they have more options.
This program is not required but highly encouraged for students having a difficult time adjusting and making friends. Bryson Owens, President of the Student Government Association, says connecting with different UHart students whose been through their first year with transitional issues can really help you feel like you belong.
