The college of Arts and Sciences is offering a career preparedness course this upcoming spring semester for all students. The course has been around for 3 years and is split into 10 different section for different majors, which includes those that are undecided.
According to Katherine Black the course has been around for three years and has grown since its first year. She explained a new addition from last year; The Career Readiness Academy. which brings in working professionals to interact with students. This includes looking over resumes, cover letters and practicing interview skills.
The course is a partnership between faculty members and Career services. Faculty members are able to provide students with more specific details on the industry students are interested such as internships or mock interviews. Career services provides students a broad understanding of resumes, cover letters and interview skills.
Dean Black says that student feedback has been exceptionally positive and she wishes that the course becomes a requirement for students to take. Students can register for the course for this upcoming Spring semester.
