Singer, songwriter, and actress, Jennifer Lopez is being sued $150,000 over an Instagram photo that she posted back in 2017. Lopez apparently posted the photo without the photographer, Steven Sands, permission and is now suing her for copyright infringement. The photo was posted on June 22, 2017 and in the photo Lopez is dressed as her Shades of Blue character, Harlee. The lawsuit was filed by lawyer, Richard Liebowitz who stated “This is an example of celebrities using photographers photographs without permission to brand themselves on social media. The number of likes the photograph receives coupled with their number of social media followers is a tool to commercialize their posts.”
The singer received a lot of comments from her fans expressing their support over the lawsuit. One fan wrote “Imagine being sued for posting a picture of YOURSELF” and another fan wrote “Love a queen who stands her ground! Beautiful and strong.”
This is not the first time that Lopez has been sued over a photo she posted on social media. She was sued $150,000 in 2017 for posting a picture of her and Alex Rodriguez holding hands in an Instagram story.
