Another 3 games against the Rays have passed and another series loss was the end result for the New York Yankees. It seems the Yankees just can’t figure Tampa Bay out so far this year posting a 2-8 record against them. The Yanks dropped three out of four in Tampa, were swept in the Bronx the last time out, and have again lost another series in the Bronx.
Oh, and Aroldis Chapman pulled a CC Sabathia, only in his way could have severely put Michael Brosseau out of commission for a long time. In the ninth inning of what seems like the only win the Yankees have against the Rays this year, the missile fired a 100 mph fast ball at the head of Brosseau in retaliation for the Rays throwing at the Yankees throughout their first series of the season. As a result, Aroldis Chapman will serve a three game suspension which began last night. Although Yankees manager Aaron Boone claimed the pitch to be “unintentional” it’s pretty clear that there was some intention. All I’ve gotta say is, the Yankees need to wake up.
It is understandable to struggle with the amount of injuries to the team and nobody could have expected Gerrit Cole to go 13-0 this year (ok maybe some) but they are now 4 and a half games out of first place and can’t seem to beat the Rays. Yankees fans need this World Series drought to end. And that’s gonna start by getting on a roll… and winning a bunch of division games to even have a chance at the A.L. East crown. After all, the rest of the regular season is Rayless.
