The Hartford Hawks playoff seedings are set.
The Men’s Soccer team has clinched the 4-Seed in the Conference of New England playoffs, thanks to a 6-0 Western New England victory against Nichols College this afternoon. The Hartford Hawks will host the Roger Williams Hawks at Al-Marzook Field on Saturday, November 2nd at 1 PM, for their first home playoff game since the America East first round in 2019.
The “Battle of the Hawks” will be the second matchup between Hartford and Roger Williams this season. Hartford defeated Roger Williams 2-0 in their game on September 28th at Al-Marzook Field. Forward Kellijah Morgan and Midfielder Nicholas Castrovinci connected twice in the contest, while Goalkeeper Ryan Lunn saved 9 shots to secure the win.
On the Women’s Side, the Hartford Hawks clinched the number one seed with their 3-0 win over Gordon College. As a result, the Hawks have earned a 1st round bye, and will play the winner of the 4 vs 5 matchup: Endicott College vs Western New England.
The Endicott Gulls scored a major victory over the Hawks at Al-Marzook Field earlier this season, limiting the potent Hawks attack to 3 shots on goal and securing a 2-1 win.
The Western New England Golden Bears matched up against the Hartford Hawks during an–at the time–five game win streak, and were shut down by the Hawks backline, having just three shots and one on target in the game. 3-1 was the final score of the matchup.
The Hartford Hawks will open their semifinal matchup against the winner of Western New England and Endicott College on Tuesday, November 5th. Their first game since the 2019 America East quarterfinals, where they defeated the UMass Lowell Riverhawks 1-0 in a double-overtime thriller.
