Viral breakdancer Rachel, “Ray Gun” Gunn retires from breakdancing

After going viral for her breakdancing performance in the 2024 Paris Olympics, Australian dancer, Rachael, “Raygun” Gunn, has retired from the sport.

Gunn was one of the many viral moments to happen during the summer exhibitions, for her unique breakdancing style that some called, “unorthodox.”

Not only did Gunn have a certain style towards her craft, but it was also new for viewers to take in the breakdancing act as an official Olympic sport. Unfortunately for breakdancing, it was announced that it has been cut for the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympics.

Gunn did not take the perception of her performance from the internet well, and credits it towards her ultimate decision; she said, “It’s not going to be the same experience because of everything that’s at stake” possibly alluding to the sport being cut as well.

Future sports being added to the 2028 Summer Olympics in place of those like breakdancing are baseball, softball, lacrosse, cricket, flag football, squash.
