Connor McDavid Scores his 1000th Point

In the Edmonton Oilers vs Nashville Predators game on Thursday, November 14th Connor McDavid made history yet again. McDavid’s dominant performance Tuesday against the New York Islanders where he contributed 4 points to the Oilers 4-3 Overtime win put him at 999 career NHL points.

followed up his impressive performance with a goal and an assist in a 3-2 Overtime Win against the Predators. The superstar center is now the 4th quickest player in NHL history and quickest in the salary cap era (2005-present day) to record 1000 career points. Wayne Gretzky accomplished 1000 points in 424 games, Mario Lemieux did it in 513 games, and Mike Bossy did it in 656 games. McDavid has played 658 games in his NHL career and is just 27 years old.

The former first overall pick reached 1000 points quicker than recent generational talents like Sidney Crosby (741 games) and Alex Ovechkin (880 games). The Ontario native already has accomplished so much in his NHL career with five Art Ross, four Ted Lindsay, three Hart, a Maurice Richard and a Conn Smythe trophy. Connor McDavid is yet to win the Stanley Cup but made his first finals appearance last spring coming up just short losing in game 7 to the Florida Panthers.

Despite losing, McDavid became the first player to win the Conn Smythe trophy on the losing team since former Anaheim Ducks goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere won it in 2003.
