Fans conspired Kendrick might have an album on the way but no one expected it to happen this soon.
Kendrick Lamar has had an active 2024, getting into the infamous diss track shot for shot, “beef” with Canadian Hip Hop superstar Drake, being selected for the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show, and now releasing his brand new album.
Lamar’s last project, “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers” a double album with heavy anticipation breaking Kendrick’s 5 year album hiatus sold nearly 300,000 equivalent album units within the first week of release. The numbers for GNX have no projected sold units as it had no public announcement, so those totals are yet to come.
The track list has no listed features, but fans on twitter have already identified T.D.E native artist SZA on one of the tracks, and cousin of Lamar Baby Keem, so it’s assumed they are hidden. The album contains West Coast old school Hip Hop elements, just like Lamars hit single, “Not Like Us.” Featured is also the sixth installment of Kendricks, “The Heart” song series, the last installment coming shortly before Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers in 2022.
It’s likely that highly credible music review sources like Anthony Fantano, rateyourmusic.com, Rolling Stone, and more will have reviews for GNX within the next week. Lamar typically has these sources on his side, with his album, “To Pimp a Butterfly” listing among a top 5 music album of all time on all their rankings.
