Susan Lane-Fournier was found on November 29 in Welches, Oregon, and was identified by the medical examiner’s office, with her death, “determined to be a homicide” (PEOPLE). Susan’s car was found parked near East Salmon River Road, and her body, “was found four miles from the location of her truck” (PEOPLE).

Susan went missing along with her two Malinois-mix dogs after they went on a hike that was believed to be in the Green Canyon Way Trail area. She was reported missing on November 22 after not appearing at work, and the search began with, “Searchers looked for Lane-Fournier on Monday in the Salmon-Huckleberry Wilderness, covering over 100 miles of trail” (ABC). Many volunteers searched for over 800 hours between Saturday and Tuesday.
After four days, the search was called off as, “Based on weather conditions and the likelihood of survivability, the decision was made to suspend operations after all four volunteer search teams returned from the field” (ABC).

The same day Susan was found, her husband Michael Fournier was arrested and taken to Clackamas County Jail where he was charged for second degree murder of his wife.
It was said that Susan had filed for a divorce just weeks before she disappeared, as “she filed the divorce proceedings on Oct. 31 in Clackamas County Circuit Court, and a petition for dissolution of marriage stated that “irreconcilable differences between the parties have caused an irremediable breakdown of their marriage” (PEOPLE).
Two dogs were found Saturday by the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office as it was believed to be Lane-Fournier’s two dogs. “Their bodies have been transferred to CCSO where investigators are working to confirm their identities” (KGW8).
It was stated by neighbors, “that while couple mostly kept to themselves, things were noticibly bad between the pair” (NY Post).
The investiagtion is ongoing as the sheriff’s office stated in a news release, “Investigators are looking to speak with anyone who may have seen Michel Fournier in the days before her disappearance or who has information about his activity and whereabouts since then” (CNN).
