One of the biggest pitching names has signed with the New York Yankees today as Starting Pitcher Max Fried leaves Atlanta and goes to New York on an 8 year deal worth $218 Million (Per Jeff Passan). The 8 year veteran had a great career in Atlanta with a 3.07 ERA and a World Series Champion from the Braves 2021 season.

Fried won 3 gold glove awards with the most recent being in 2022, while also making the All-MLB 2nd team twice in 2021 and 2022 after making the All-MLB 1st team in 2020. Fried also leaves Atlanta with a silver slugger for the pitching position.

Fried, who dominated during his career in Atlanta, leaves with a career record of 73-36 in 168 games. With a WHIP of 1.16 as well it is safe to say that Fried gives the Yankees a boost for a season where a lot of questions will be asked. In the 2024 season Fried put up 3.25 ERA with 166 strikeouts and only 57 walks.

Fried joins a New York Yankees team whose starting rotation struggled with injury. With the only two starters who didn’t miss time at some point in the season, those being Rodón and Stroman. The Yankees will be thrilled to have another lefty.  With the Yankees unable to sign Juan Soto the signing of Max Fried will give the pitching staff a much needed boost.
