Pittsburgh Penguins Waive Goaltender Tristan Jarry

The Pittsburgh Penguins have waived goaltender, Tristan Jarry on Wednesday. On October 26th Jarry was assigned to the AHL on a conditioning loan after a very poor start to the season. He was recalled on November 9th. Since then Jarry’s play has been up and down, having some good and bad performances. Tristan Jarry signed a new 5 year/5,375,000 contract after the 2022-23 season. So far this season in the NHL Jarry has a .884 Save% (SV%), 3.31 Goals Against Average (GAA), and has a record of 8-8-4 in his 22 games played. On his conditioning loan in the minors Jarry had a .926 SV%, 2.16 GAA, and a 4-1 record through 5 games for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
While there are at least a handful of teams that can use a goalie, he is very unlikely to be claimed due to his long term contract, high cap hit, and inconsistent play over the years and especially this season. While I believe Jarry will make it through waivers, I think there is a very good chance he is not there for long. While I know the Penguins would love it if he gets claimed, he is still arguably the best goalie in their system, especially when on his game.
While Joel Blomqvist might have a chance of being the Penguins future starter I can see them targeting a goalie in the market to help them in the immediate future. While Crosby is on the Penguins I can not see them rebuilding and if they want to compete for the playoffs an upgrade in net is necessary. Some guys I can see the Penguins being in on are John Gibson, Dan Vladar, Anton Forsberg, and Connor Ingram.
