The franchise is one of the most successful Nickelodeon animated series, with ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ and ‘The Legend of Korra’.
Earlier today, Nickelodeon greenlit, ‘Avatar: Seven Havens’, a sequel series that is set to take place years after the Legend of Korra.
The offcial synopsis is, “a world shattered by a devastating cataclysm. A young Earthbender discovers she’s the new Avatar after Korra – but in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity’s destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization’s last strongholds collapse” (Variety).
The series will be in 2D animation and, “will consist of 26 half-hour episodes spread across two seasons, or Books 1 & 2 in “Avatar” style” (Variety).
Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, the original creators of Avatar: The Last Airbender are retuning as the heads of the series.
“We can’t wait to embark on the next chapter of this epic saga, with a new story set within the Avatarverse, envisioned by the original creators, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko” (THR), said the President of Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation, Ramsey Naito.
Avatar Studios, which is headed by DiMartino and Konietzo and focuses on everything Avatar, ranging from tv series and movies, produces this series.
The cast and premiere of the series is set to be revealed at a later time, but the first animated movie in the avatar studios franchise is set to hit theaters Jan 30, 2026, with Dave Bautista set to be in the film.
