78 stories high in Manhattan, Two workers, had to be rescued due to the safety lines of the scaffolding not being secured.
“It happened 78 stories above the ground on West 58th Street around 9:45 a.m. Friday.., Firefighters had to break windows and were quickly able to stabilize the rigging, keep it upright, and pull the two workers to safety” (ABC 7).
The scaffold had lost control and was only being supported by the security line which was the reason the scaffold did not break or snap, it was said that “The workers were wearing their safety harnesses, but they were useless because they were not hooked up to the scaffold rigging by safety lines” (ABC 7). The scaffolding also smashed one of the windows on the 78th floor after slamming into it.
It was stated that the workers were safe and in stable condition, after being rescued by the first responders and were sent to Cornell Hospital.
