Mavericks Kyrie Irving Out for the Remainder of NBA Season

Mav's star misses the rest of the 2024-25 season after an injury against the Kings

NBA All Star Kyrie Irving will miss the remainder of the 2024-25 season after suffering a torn ACL. According to Shams Charania from ESPN Irving suffered the knee injury in the first quarter against the Sacramento Kings.

This injury could not come at a worse time for Mav’s fans as future Hall of Famer Luka Doncic was traded in early February. With a playoff appearance becoming less likely, the Mavericks will have a lot to work for to keep their playoff dreams alive.

The Mav’s were able to keep the game against the Kings close in the first quarter when Irving injured his knee, ending the first quarter down 3 points, however the injury to Irving would prove to be detrimental to the Mavericks as with each quarter the difference in scores grew, with the team only putting up 16 points in the 3rd quarter despite being down 60-50. Despite the 4th quarter being the best quarter for the team the deficit was too large and they would ultimately lose the game with a final score of 122-98.

Irving who has only missed 12 games up to this point was doing well for the team, averaging about 25 points per game and just under 5 rebounds a game will be missed.

The Mav’s without Irving so far this season have a record of 4-8 with losses to the Utah Jazz, LA Clippers, Sacramento Kings, Cleveland Cavaliers, Memphis Grizzlies, Denver Nuggets, and New Orleans Pelicans. It is safe to say that the lose of Irving will be a big loss to the team. With the injury to Irving this will be his second time on the injury reserve, with an injury back in January where he sprained his thumb.
