MLB Season Preview 24: Baltimore Orioles

2024 Record: 91-71

Executive Vice President and General Manager: Mike Elias

Manager: Brandon Hyde

Notable Offseason Acquisitions: Charlie Morton (1 year 15 Million), Andrew Kittredge (1 year 10 Million), Dylan Carlson (1 year 975 thousand)

Coming off a disappointing sweep against the Royals in the AL Wild Card the Orioles look to bounce back and dominate once again. The team is led in with young stars Adley Rutschman, Gunnar Henderson and, Colton Cowser. Along with the return of Felix Bautista, the O’s have a lot to look forward to.

Following the loss to the Kansas City Royals the O’s went out and picked up Dylan Carlson who in 2024 played 96 games putting up 49 hits in 235 at bats, while driving in 25 runs. Despite the offense not being the best from Carlson he has been known to be good on defense In the 93 games he played in the field he only had 1 error in the field. Although the bat isn’t the best in the league his defense will definitely help the Orioles outfield in Camden Yards.

Taking a look at the pitching that was picked up, Charlie Morton is the oldest player on the roster for the O’s with him being 41 years old, he has the most experience to give to the team. Although not the hardest thrower Morton did decent for the Braves, putting up 167 strikeouts in 165.1 innings pitched. Averaging just over 9 strikeouts for every 9 innings pitched Morton won’t get you the most overpowering fastball but he can miss the barrel of the bat.

Orioles fans have a lot to look forward to with this young team. With a healthy Grayson Rodriguez and Felix Bautista the pitching staff will look to be unstoppable. With the hopes of Jackson Holiday having a breakout season along with Gunnar Henderson playing how he did in 2024 the O’s will have a good offense, the only goal now is to win more games, thats where the pitching comes into question so the final goal is to dominate on pitching and perform offensively and the team will be a legitimate threat to win the AL East.
