The New England Patriots have a new star wide receiver, as they signed 10-year veteran Stefon Diggs to a three-year, 69 million dollar contract that includes 26 million guaranteed dollars according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The 31-year-old played in eight games last season for the Houston Texans after he suffered a torn ACL halfway through 2024. He finished the year with 47 receptions in addition to 496 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns in his short stint with Houston.
Diggs and his 10,491 career receiving yards and 70 touchdowns provides a much needed weapon for Patriots quarterback Drake Maye. New England believes the talent and experience of Diggs will help jump start Maye’s development as he becomes the unquestioned starter heading into 2025.
The Patriots went 4-13 in 2024 in their first year post-Bill Belichick. New England and their rabid fanbase hope the new offensive addition will help them win games for the foreseeable future and get back to being a perennial playoff team.
