“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Returns to Air Following Indefinite Suspension

Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel has returned to the air on Tuesday, September 23, at 11:30pm EST.

As viewers are eager to hear from the late-night host for the first time since his suspension from ABC on Wednesday, September 17, Kimmel opened by thanking those who have reached out in support of his show, whether or not they share the host’s beliefs.  He used a recent statement from Ted Cruz, stating Cruz “said something very beautiful on my behalf”. (ABC)

Kimmel addressed his prior comment regarding Charlie Kirk’s death. He states not only, “it was never my intention to make light of the murder of a young man” (ABC), but, “Nor was it my intention to blame any specific group for the action of what was obviously a deeply disturbed individual,” (ABC). He additionally expressed empathy toward those who were made to feel hurt by his comment.

Additionally, Kimmel praises Erika Kirk for her remarks during her husband’s memorial service on Sunday.  “Erika Kirk forgave the man who shot her husband,” He said. “This is an example we should follow,” “it touched me deeply” (ABC).

The late-night host discussed the comment from Chairman of the FCC Brendan Carr upon his suspension, stating his remark was “not a particularly intelligent threat to make in public” (ABC). Additionally, in response to a recent comment from President Donald Trump, “He had no talent, … he had no ratings” (ABC), Kimmel said, “I do tonight” (ABC).

While we cannot predict the future of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”, Viewers will remain on the edge of their seats into the near future.
