The EBERSPÄCHER Luge World Cup Lake Placid, New York took place on Sunday at
Mount Van Hovenburg with participants trying to scrape points together to qualify for the 2026
Milan Winter Olympics. This weekend was an exciting event with over 85 sleds competing in
the Men’s Double and Single events plus Women's Double and single events. It was a thrilling
weekend with Olympic dreams on the line.
The United States had four sleds finish on the podium this weekend with Marcus
Mueller and Ansel Haugsjaa placing first in the Men's Double with a time of 1:27:509 over two
heats. Germany also had four sleds placed on the podium with Julia Taubitz and Felix Loch
placing first in the Women's and Men's events respectively. Taubitz had a time of 1:28.824 while
Loch clocked 1:41.766. But Austria was the country of the day with three sleds landing podium
finishes. Selina Egle and Lara Kipp not only took gold in the Women’s Double event but also set
a new course record of 44.151 at Mount Van Hovenburg with a combined time of 1:28.310 over
two heats.
Sunday was filled with lots of exciting events. This shapes up the Olympic Luge event to
an event to anticipate much excitement and thrill for fans.
