The University of Hartford is expanding. Gengras Student Union, is undergoing construction to build a new student lounge for academic advising. One part of the expansion is going to be the Center for Student Success’s new location. Where first year students can talk to their advisers and register for their classes all at the same place instead of having to go get their adviser’s signature or go through SASC.
“The expansion is happening because we’re combining a collection of forks currently on campus all under one roof. A lot of colleges and different departments have recognize the needs of our students and have started to fulfill those needs. But right now they are kind of scattered about campus. So this expansion is going to create a physical space to be able to put all those people under one roof.
Michael Ormsby, the Director of Center for Student Success said.
The 1600 square feet expansion is going to include a series of offices for the assistant directors and support specialists. The expansion will also include a larger waiting room, a transitional space where furniture cane be moved, and can be used for group projects, meetings after hours, and space for meetings room.
The current estimated completion date for the new space is set in late October.
