Spring Break denotes images of beaches, cool drinks, and general fun in the sun. However, over the recent years, Spring Breaks of many college students across the country ended in tragedy.
Mike Cerepusczko, Associate Director of Public Safety for the University, says the most important thing a student should not leave behind is common sense. This means that if a student feels uncomfortable about a situation he or she is in, then leave. It's better to be safe than sorry. In addition, students should never drink alone or and should always use a designated driver.
For safety, students should always walk with a friend and have a "buddy system" set up. If travelling abroad, students should be extra vigilant and constantly keep an eye on their surroundings. Students should also only use approved and accredited transport and hotel accomodations.
