The Hartt School mourns the loss of renowned alto saxaphonist Jackie Mclean. The founder of the Hartt School’s jazz studies program died in his home in Hartford March 31 at the age of 74. Mclean founded the department of frican-american music and established jazz studies as a degree program in 1980. The funeral service was held in New York City April 7.
